Oasis is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to support individuals in recovery from drug & alcohol addictions. Their Employment Placement Program helps participants prepare to find employment. It gives them tools and a realistic action plan to achieve clear career goals.  While Oasis' programs are vital, awareness is low. We also chose this particular moment in time to raise awareness of their program because the current state of unemployment in Canada has been trending higher and higher, up a full percentage point compared with a year ago. And those recovering from addiction face an unemployment rate 3x higher than the average. Making it more important than ever to get the word out about their programs.  Our two main goals were to educate people about Oasis' offering for addiction recovery and employment services as well as inspire people suffering from addition to reach out for help. The campaign was developed to address the stigma of addiction, and help people understand that addiction does not discriminate, and that people do recover. And to get potential employers to consider people in addiction recovery as a potential job candidate by getting them to realize that the traits it takes to overcome addiction, courage, dedication, commitment & perseverance, are exactly the same ones every good employer looks for in an employee.  The film was developed using 2D frame-by-frame animation (cel animation), a multi-layered creative process that begins with concept and storyboarding. A series of sketches were used to map out the story and visual flow, setting the stage for everything that follows.  Next life was breathed into our characters and their world by working on character and background designs to define the visual style.  Animatics and layouts were then used to plan the timing and pacing of the animation. This began with keyframe drawing, the process of determining the key poses of the movements. On a second layer, in between drawings, the details of the movement were filled in. Composing is the final stage where frame-by-frame animation, backgrounds, camera movement, visual effects and secondary animation were integrated to bring it all together. As a bro bono client without access to media dollars, the films were posted on Oasis' website and relied on PR and organic reach. At launch it was picked up by Canada's top ad publications and most importantly, it was widely shared on LinkedIn, the world's biggest professional network and where exposure to the campaign matters most to reach potential employers.
