"Firstly the band have written some new music and wanted a trilogy of videos to accompany interesting music. Secondly, they enlisted the fantastic northern writer Emma Jane Unsworth, whose recent book and film 'Animals' was received with rave reviews. The challenge with this trilogy was to present Emma's short story in music video form. Each music video in the trilogy is unique but follows the same protagonist down a rabbit hole of self discovery as she finds and follows her younger self. This was a very deep analytical and psychological piece to display in a music video format. This short was also written out of context to the three tracks but with the band in mind, this meant that there was a jigsaw to be created from the story and the track in order to create a coherent but also an emotional piece of work. This project was the first time the band have ever attempted something this 'all-encompassing'. It was a 360 campaign involving the release of the song, the chapters of the short story and the corresponding video all at the same time. This was unique for the client and proved to be deeply engaging for the fan base. Noticing the engagement on Twitter and Instagram, and watching the fans piece together how the short story fed into the visuals which in turn fed into the song was an artistic highpoint for the campaign.I think the underwater scenes, which I'm really proud of, were created in a childrens swimming pool... that had Finding Nemo murals all over the walls! The budget on these three films was incredibly prohibitive and the scope of the project was such that to achieve the underwater results we did is an amazing feat from DOP and post departments at Chief."
