Released at the World Gas Conference, the immersive AR experience showcases Chevron’s Gorgon Project, one of the world’s largest Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) projects. The Gorgon Project is found on Barrow Island, a Class A nature reserve just off the coast of Western Australia. The app invites users to explore the island to see how Chevron has successfully co-existed with this environment for years. The journey begins with a bird’s-eye view of Barrow Island. From there, users can dive into three different chapters. Chapter One, “Protecting the Island,” showcases the extensive Quarantine Management System put into place to prevent the introduction of non-indigenous species. Chapter Two, “Discovering the Wildlife,” lets users meet the unique animals found on the island. The life-sized animals are textured and animated in real-time through Unity and are camera-aware. Chapter Three, “Powering the Region,” explains how the LNG is shipped from Barrow Island to communities across the world.
