After reflecting on our role in creating a more socially conscious and fairer society, in light of the Black Lives Matter movement, we decided to launch Black Voices. We realise we have a platform to speak to millions of people every day, and we feel it’s important to be generous with this platform and allow others a chance to speak.
Black Voices included a series of short films, in which Black people shared their personal experiences, including stories of racism, how they’re feeling in the current climate and their hopes for the future.
We heard from a range of contributors, including public figures, such as David Lammy MP and Simon Woolley, Director of Operation Black Vote, talent, such as Charlene White from ITV News, and some of our ITV colleagues.
The films were intended to shed light on what some Black people have had to endure over the years, and still endure even today. Our message was simple, change starts with listening.
