In a market where every other car is competing with flashy gimmicks, we chose not to compete. But to ridicule by creating the most flashy gimmick of all; "The Talking Car Upgrade". Using simple audio chips, we enabled every new Baleno to talk to its passengers, creating a new car experience never heard before.
Using the technology you find in musical birthday cars we created devices that were placed in every Baleno at strategic points: the glove box, center console, sun visor and boot. When the new Baleno was launched, every passenger was given a talking Baleno, or "DAS TALKOMOBILE".
The Baleno is a Suzukis most sensible car, and our task was to promote it in a market where every other car is searching for a competitive advantage with gimmicks and optional extras. By creating the most transparent gimmick of all, we not only deflated the features of other cars – we positioned Baleno as the practical, no-frills affordable car.
Here’s a few stats from the campaign period:
- Baleno year on year sales tripled for the first 3 months of 2020.
- UVs to the Baleno product page shot up 193% over the same period.
- As did dealer walk-in enquiry which shot up 73.5% year on year too.
- 1006 Talking Car upgrades were fitted.
Pretty cool.
Just to recap: we sold 300% more Baleno’s (1006 in total) by putting a gimmick in them that cost just a couple of bucks.
