Western Australian data reveals that only 22% of young people aged 15-24 years reported using illicit drugs in the last 12 months (2019) (National Drug Strategy Household Survey (NDSHS) 2019) - a clear statistic that challenges a bigger misconception.
Drug Aware's ‘Little White Lies’ aims to reduce and delay intent to use illicit drugs. Many young people tend to believe the 'little white lies' they hear, including the one where ‘everyone is doing drugs, and you’re the one missing out.’ By over-estimating the number of people doing drugs, young people believe this behaviour to be normal.
Little White Lies presents a series of humorous, relatable, and most importantly, untrue scenarios that we’ve all heard in our day-to-day lives. With a catchy hook, and school-like ‘doodle’ animations, this campaign aims to debunk an important message in a way that doesn’t feel preachy or authoritative, instead resonating with the audience.
