Our VFX Team and Director joined forces in partnership with Bob Ross Inc., for a special production to bring back legend Bob Ross for Mountain Dew.

We used VFX to manipulate the major features of the body double to match the profile of the real Bob Ross more accurately, including his iconic haircut and beard for a better silhouette.

We brought our Bob Ross to life by using the below techniques – a combination of different casting and VFX approaches: Bob Ross body double – this was the casting call below to best match Bob’s body and then we used VFX for mouth replacement and augmentation of the face of the body double to match Bob, pairing this with real Bob Ross footage from the real episode.

The director states, "the entire production was unique starting off with the fact that it was cast and shot remotely, which you can imagine added to the complexity when trying to ascertain Bob's likeness. We then set out to re-create an entire episode, including the set. Every single detail right down to the vintage lenses was meticulously crafted!"
