Fake news has become its own pandemic in South Africa. With misinformation fuelling opinions and swaying the choices people make. We wanted to use the platform as means to advertising Nando’s most unbelievably priced meal, a Prego and chips for R49,00.
So we drew inspiration from a story that had gripped not only South Africa but the world as well. A story of a woman who was expecting 10 babies. We added our own spin to it much like how fake new begins to change depending on the who is reporting that particular story so did ours.
Instead of 10 ours would be known as the Ekurhuleni 11, our retelling of the story came with key message; you can’t afford to believe fake news but you can afford the Nando’s Prego and chips for R49,00.
