Sovereign Hill is an open-air, living museum offering visitors a unique glimpse into Australia’s nation-defining 1850s gold rush. Open 364 days a year since 1970, perceptions of the museum were that it felt outdated, outmoded and lacking appeal to new generations of Australians.
But on 14 July 2018 – 50 years since opening – Sovereign Hill set a new daily visitation record, driven by a new brand campaign, The Story Lives On, which dramatises tales from the 1850s to capture the attention of modern Australians.
Bringing the drama of the gold rush to life, the short films recount personal stories from this turbulent time, revealing the realities of the era that lie at the heart of what makes Sovereign Hill such a unique experience. The films were shot at Sovereign Hill with an all Sovereign Hill cast in Sovereign Hill costume, ensuring that we authentically showcase what makes Sovereign Hill worth visiting.
