Barry’s is a local Irish brand with a long history of storytelling in their advertising. Traditionally they would be always stories of Irish people moving abroad, and feeling at home with a cup of Barry’s. Ireland has long been a nation of emigrants and our diaspora are scattered all over the world so this always had a unique relevance to our people.
With this campaign we wanted to flip that old familiar construct on its head and tell a different story – one that speaks to a more modern Ireland. So this is the story of an immigrant who moves to Ireland to study and grows to love the place through the quirks and eccentricities of the people – at the centre of this is the ritual of tea.
On St Patrick’s Day, our national holiday, we released this 3 minute long short film called Love Letter to Bahia. A celebration of Irishness voiced in Portuguese.
