Afternoons are liminal moments for teens, and they want a substantial snack in the space between school and dinner. When hunger, time and temperature align (4:25pm x 425°) it opens a hot, melty dimension of entertaining strangeness:
Totino’s AREA 4:25°
In the second installment of Totino’s AREA 4:25° campaign, we returned to
For these spots we partnered with Director Emma Debany for her brilliant ability to combine quirky comedy and visual absurdity in scenes that are grounded in relatable situations. She realized the vision (while adding to it), and
shocking and dramatic, suspenseful or surreal scenes as the stories played out.
Practical effects by Joe Holliday (like the series of reaction gags in Totinovela, and the creature in Everything Sauce) create a sense of realism that cuts through the ridiculousness of the content to keep it feeling real-ish
Ally McGillicuddy brought signature moments of unreality by creating the disturbing and delicious-looking character Toti for “Ask Mom,” as well as the highly convincing “Pizza Brains” prosthetic, in which you can see real Totino’s Pizza Rolls bouncing around when the guys turn their heads.
This work has been a hit with Totino’s fans, Little Black Book called it “Surreal” and a “Back-To-School Snack Attack,” and Adweek said the campaign “Makes Snacking Weird,” which we wholeheartedly agree with.
