When you’re single, finding the love of your life is unnecessarily difficult and complicated. 

RnB singer, Jordan Sparks, called it a Battlefield and Valentine’s Day can sometimes rub salt in those wounds. 

Knowing that this is the plight of many, McDonald’s took the challenge into their own hands by making Valentine’s Day slightly easier. We turned our My M App into a dating app and took on the task of matchmaking people based on their meal orders. 

A week before Valentine's Day we sent out a teaser tweet that spoke to the hearts of the single. It simply read “Chomi banglahlile” or “friend I’ve been dumped”. 

The response was overwhelming and it ranged from those who could personally relate, to brands who jumped on the opportunity to have some pre-Valentine’s Day fun, to controversial politicians who appreciated the light-hearted banter. 

The teaser was followed by us posting our campaign on our My M App and all our social media platforms. 

After the consumer clicked on the campaign in the app, they gave us their regular order, their age, their dating preferences and their consent for us to contact them if we find them a match. 

Once we found their match, the couple was fed some basic info about each other after which they could choose to go in store that evening for a 5-star McDonald’s Date Night and share some time alone with their match. 

Those that weren’t so lucky we’re given a voucher for a free McFlurry via their app as their Valentine’s Day gift from us.
