This is a story about the first time a young boy tastes KFC when it first came to Australia in 1968.
The boy experiences a taste epiphany, says 'bucket' to his aunt's stodgy cuisine, and escapes his oppressive home to share the magical taste of those 11 secret herbs and spies with the entire neighbourhood.
Context: Compared to today, Australian cuisine in 1968 was bland and dull. About the only thing you could say about it was it was consistent. Drawing from British roots it consisted mainly of poor quality overcooked meat along with two vegetables often blended together into one tasteless mush. So when KFC arrived, as the first American fast food, it was seen as exotic and delicious. Plus it came in a bucket. How exotic.
