David Bradley, best known as Filch in Harry Potter, dances freely in the promo helmed by the ex-giffgaff brand director
Tom Rainsford has directed Jack Savoretti’s video for ‘Youth and Love (feat.Mika)’, starring film and TV legend David Bradley, who you may recognise from the Harry Potter films, Broadchurch or Les Misérables.
This music video creates a celebratory and mesmerising film, poignant in both its joy and sadness.
We see a dapperly dressed older gentleman enter a cafe. It's empty of customers. With a knowing look on his face, he looks around. He stands slowly and begins to dance - something he's always wanted to do. He dances uninhibitedly. As he dances we see a scrapbook of memories dart across his well-worn face, his eyes acting out his experiences. His life's joy and pain, all etched across his face.
Tom says about the video: "I wanted to create something that fitted the track. I wanted to create something that was full of life and joy but also took a moment to be reflective. We frequently get to see brilliant younger dancers and this was a great opportunity to do something different with an older person. And still, deliver all the energy and passion you come to expect from a music promo. David Bradley is a complete star. It was a pleasure to work with him in a role that is so different from how you usually see him. It was vital that David put his own spin and spirit on the choreography, which he did and at 77 he danced all day without putting a foot wrong. Without a doubt, he deserves the title of a legend."
Tom was previously one of the founders and brand director of giffgaff where he directed the highly acclaimed Halloween films, ‘2AM’ and ‘The Music Box’. Tom has been featured in Creative Review’s Top 50 Creative leaders. He has recently moved to be marketing director at Beavertown Brewery.
