Following on from his previous Nowness film ‘Reborn’ comes JSA director Andy Margetson’s latest film for the global video channel. This time we see the Memphis jooker L’il Buck being captured during his first improv dance inside a museum, the Fondation Louis Vuitton no less. Surrounded by the likes of Matisse and Picasso, we follow the talented dancer as he responds through movement to the art and architecture around him.
The film was commissioned by Nowness and the Parisian museum to celebrate their landmark exhibition “Icons of Modern Art: The Shchukin Collection”, and beautifully shot by DOP Martin de Chabaneix with music by Evgueni Galperine & Sacha Galperine. Striking a perfect harmony between dancer, director and museum, the film showcases the artistry apparent in all three mediums and serves as one of the more exciting and effective ways to promote an exhibition using film, having racked up millions of views already since it’s release.
