Apple Spotlights Disabled Community Creatives for Accessibility Awareness Day
To celebrate Global Accessibility Awareness Day, Apple is showing the stories of two creatives within the disabled community. Apple honours Esmé Moore and Ian Treherne and how iPhone’s accessibility features enhance their unique creative view, assisting them in capturing portraits in their own styles.
Portraits and Instagram reels begin rolling out on the @apple Instagram page the day before Global Accessibility Awareness Day. This will launch with a carousel post and story of Ian’s work followed by Esmé’s work, ‘Flow State’ and the reel. All creators, talent, and musical artists whose songs are featured in the work are members of the disabled community.
The accessibility features on iPhone that Esmé and Ian use include:
- Voice Control - allowing you to fully control your iPhone using only your voice. Quickly open and interact with apps, search the web, and write and edit more efficiently with rich text editing commands.
- Back Tap - With Back Tap in iOS 14 or later, a quick double or triple tap on the back of your iPhone can open Control Centre, take a screenshot, trigger accessibility-specific actions, and more.
- AssistiveTouch - AssistiveTouch helps you use iPhone if you have difficulty touching the screen or pressing the buttons. You can use AssistiveTouch to adjust volume, lock your screen, use multi-finger gestures, restart your device, or replace pressing buttons with just a tap.
