In a stunning fusion of art and technology, Octopus Inc. has partnered with Langland, the avant-garde creative agency celebrated for its ground breaking healthcare communications, to unveil an extraordinary film for ELEKTA, a global leader in precision radiation therapy solutions. This innovative collaboration has birthed a captivating visual experience that brilliantly showcases the cutting-edge flexibility and advanced capabilities of ELEKTA's EVO technology.
The film's centre-piece is an electrifying performance by a master drummer, whose intricate rhythms and powerful beats serve as a dynamic metaphor for the agility and precision of ELEKTA’s EVO technology. As the drummer's sticks dance across the drums with breath taking finesse, viewers are drawn into a vivid representation of how EVO’s precision and adaptability are transforming cancer treatment. This artistic portrayal not only highlights the technological prowess of EVO but also evokes an emotional connection, bringing its life-saving potential into sharp focus.
Chris Turner, aka Favourite Colour: Black, director at Octopus Inc., shared his vision behind the film, "The basic concept of the Elekta film was simple - a drum kit expanding and contracting around a drummer as his needs change. But to capture this with a sense of movement and dynamism reflective of the performer’s energy made it a much more complicated project. I knew certain scenes would have to be captured using motion control, and therefore the drummer Zach would require a locked-in composition to perform to over and over on the shoot day. So, in contrast to how most commercials are made, we had to create the music first, allowing space in the instrumentation for voiceover to come later, and considering each beat and each bar in terms of what its visual accompaniment would be once we began shooting. Working closely with the drummer Zach Okonkwo, drum tech Bence Bolygo, and a great on-set technical team at Love High Speed, we created a work-flow that allowed us to capture the performance live but also repeat takes in order to strip the shots into separate layers to be re-assembled in post."
ELEKTA’s EVO technology is redefining the landscape of radiation therapy, offering clinicians unparalleled flexibility and precision in crafting tailored treatment solutions for cancer patients. This visionary project underscores Langland’s unwavering commitment to pushing creative boundaries and crafting compelling narratives that resonate within the healthcare sector.
"We are thrilled to share this ground breaking film, courtesy of Elekta, with the world," said Beth Montague, executive producer at Octopus Inc. "By blending the art of drumming with the science of radiation therapy, the team created a powerful visual metaphor that captures the essence of ELEKTA's EVO technology."
The film will be showcased across a multitude of platforms, reaching diverse audiences and illuminating the transformative advancements ELEKTA brings to cancer treatment. An inspiring film that is as innovative and impactful as the technology it celebrates.
