Berlin-based REKORDER is always looking for projects which contribute to sustainability. It is no news that it is now imperative to act responsibly towards this matter and use our own power. Electric cars are a mid-term solution directly to our reach and well-executed collaborations such as Audi x Malaika Mihambo are precisely the way to go forwards.
But what do a fully electric car and an athlete have in common? They should be fast and dazzling. So what do the new Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron and the world champion in long jump Malaika Mihambo share? They both combine innovation and sustainability with speed, elegance and sportiness.
Malaika, born in 1994, was a European Champion in 2018, World Champion in Doha 2019, achieving her personal best with 7.30m. She also won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020. The athlete is full of energy. While doing a master's degree in environmental sciences, she established a registered association called "Malaika's Herzsprung." This association helps children find their way into sports and personal development by being aware of their environment.
FunFact: While Malaika runs 100m in 11,21 seconds, the Audi Q4 can get from 0 to 100 km/h in 6,2 seconds.
During the film's shoot, the whole team and crew were curious to see Malaika jump in real life. Even if she did not jump as far as in a real competition, watching her in her element was very impressive! It was also fantastic timing - just after the shoot, Malaika won the gold medal for long jump on the Tokyo Olympics Games.
Although the project timing was tight and the shooting took place in Hamburg (so the typical northern German weather was present), the project was implemented successfully. It was a collective effort and triumph between the creatives and producers at thjnk, a trustful and empowering client Audi, the strong and professional Mihambo, a great experienced director - Bruce St.Clair and the energetic team and crew from REKORDER.
