The fun and accessibility of Bank of America’s digital tools are demonstrated in Marathon, a new short film directed by Sara Shelton out of Ruckus Films. Made in sponsorship of the Chicago Marathon, the film playfully takes online banking ‘on the run.’
Fully encapsulating the buoyant and bustling energy of an annual city marathon, the film follows our narrator for a splice of life mid-race. As he puts one foot in front of another, the narrator reveals how his fellow runners, as well as race volunteers and loved ones cheering on the side lines, may appear to be on their phones or devices – but they’re actually banking. Whether paying a friend back for ‘Carb loading,’ tracking their budget, or saving for a life goal, we’re shown that Bank of America’s array of digital tools are not only user friendly; they’re also fun.
For the vibrant, 30-second film, writer and director Sara Shelton tapped into her rich background as a comedic storyteller to implement fast-hitting subplots and quick visual cues that keep the audience’s eyes moving, and their interests piqued.
“Finance and fun aren’t usually two words that go together,” says Greg Jones, managing partner at Ruckus Films. “Like running a marathon, though, there is an elation involved in accomplishing your goals, and a self-fulfillment in knowing you’re working hard towards something. I think Sara captured that feeling perfectly in Marathon.”
The world-class Bank of America Chicago Marathon 2022 was held October 9th. Registration for the 2023 Marathon is now open.
