Campaign from BSSP celeberates the return of the Topps MVP Buyback Program

TOPPS launches 'Chrome Rush' to kick off the 2024 MVP Buyback Program with baseball legends in a Spaghetti Western Adventure.

The brand is bringing the thrill of the Wild West to baseball card collecting with Chrome Rush, a high-stakes campaign celebrating the return of the Topps MVP Buyback Program. With MVP announcements just around the corner on November 21st, Topps is giving collectors the ultimate trade-in opportunity: exchange MVP player cards for valuable store credit at participating hobby shops nationwide.

Created in collaboration with BSSP, Chrome Rush is a modern-day treasure hunt. Just as prospectors once searched for rare and precious metals, collectors now experience the adrenaline and strategy of discovering MVP-worthy Chrome cards, a nod to the timeless allure of the hunt. The campaign opens 'somewhere out west' and follows Big Papi (David Ortiz) as he pans for MVP cards, he then strikes Chrome with finding Yankees Aaron Judge and LA Dodgers Shoehi Ohtani trading cards. We follow Big Papi to Big Hurt’s Trading Post run by Hall of Famer Frank Thomas and a hang out for other all-star baseball legends like Pedro Martinez, Rollie Fingers and Vladimir Guerrero Sr. There, Big Pap is able to score big on store credit by trading in his Chrome finds.

Throughout the campaign collector fans will be able to spot easter eggs as they view the spot.

  • The WANTED posters in the background of Big Hurts Trading Post are for Aaron Judge and Shoehi Ohtani.
  • The 'Proprietor' Plate behind Big Hurt is left blank. Meant to mirror and represent his infamous rookie card where the name is left blank.
  • Big Papi is wearing a Boston Red Sox Pin and Big Hurt is wearing a 35 Pin for his Jersey number.

The campaign was directed by Brother Willis, who is a creator of dryly comedic films and images, and often harkens back to his time in the plains of West Texas.

Whether you're a long-time collector or new to the hobby, the Topps MVP Buyback Program is your chance to cash in on the MVP announcements. Starting November 21st, participating stores will accept 2024 Topps Chrome MVP player cards for store credit, adding even more value and excitement to the season for baseball enthusiasts.
