Developed by Leo Burnett Toronto, two Bell TIFF movie trailers celebrate not only Bell’s passion and commitment to TIFF, but go beyond to also honour those at the heart of the festival – the incredible audience of film lovers who attend year after year.
Both trailers have the main character break the fourth wall to take the time to acknowledge and praise the audience in the theatre. The actors tell the audience that they are, in fact, huge fans of the people in the audience. The romance actor requests a selfie, while the hero of the horror film has a tattoo recognising her TIFF audience fandom. That’s how much they love the audience.
“To recognise the amazing people that TIFF attracts every year, we thought it would be fun to flip the script and have the star of our film trailer gush over the audience – by breaking the fourth wall and asking the audience to take a selfie or showing off their TIFF fan tattoo.” said Marcus Sagar, group creative director, Leo Burnett.
