Shot across stunning California landscapes, Stept Studios’ newest film features Anderson .Paak, a live bear, and choreographed dance for a new collaboration between Lexus and Amazon Music. The project features a freshly recorded and updated version of Anderson's song “Celebrate” which was released without a music video 10 years ago. The all-new 2024 Lexus GX is spotlighted throughout the film, which was released to celebrate World Music Day.
The film was conceptualised by creative talent from Amazon, Lexus, and Team One. Stept’s director, Maya Table, led the charge on set with co-directing support from Stept’s founder Nick Martini. Cinematographer, Max Goldman, captured the film right after he wrapped his time on HBO’s Severance. Lockt Editorial’s Gianluigi Carella led the post process as lead editor.
The film follows Anderson on a road trip around California, and ultimately into the sky for an ascension into the stars at the finale. To film the levitation sequence, Anderson, the dancers and the cinematographer, Max Goldman, were lifted 50 feet into the air using large cranes in the desert.
Director Maya Table was thrilled by the project, stating, “It was amazing that the brand wanted to lean into my music video and VFX wheelhouse. This was an unexpected and emotional collab: I have a dance background but had never directed dancers until this production. I honestly was teary eyed most of the shoot. The level of trust and freedom we had to create outside of the box was rare and so appreciated.”
