Cheeky Little Media has appointed former Smith & Western Sound's head of new business, Abby Dorrian, to lead creative partnerships and studio development.
Cheeky Little Media, based in Sydney's Manly, is known for its critically acclaimed animation series such as Kangaroo Beach, Ginger and the Vegesaurs, Kazoops! and Bottersnikes & Gumbles for Netflix, Disney, ABC and BBC. This year, it earned itself a Logie nomination for Ginger & the Vegesaurs, in addition to embarking on its first animated feature, a co-production with Flying Bark based on the hit book series Zac Power.
In her new role, Abby will develop and expand the studio's service work portfolio, engaging with local and global partners to explore collaborations.
Co-founders, David Webster and Patrick Egerton, said, “We’re really excited to welcome Abby to the team. She is a natural at building connections and we’re looking forward to the energy and smarts she will bring to drive our studio's service work into new territories, both creatively and geographically.”
Abby said she was drawn to Cheeky Little for its fusion of high quality storytelling and offbeat humour.
“Cheeky Little is an industry gem", she said. "An Aussie truffle. They've been on my radar to work with since I first moved to Australia. They have a unique cultural voice and boast world class creative output. From their own original global productions, to offering full production services, to being pioneers in Unreal Engine, 2D and 3D, every Cheeky Little project exudes charm, innovation and originality.”
Cheeky Little is focusing on scaling up its service work capabilities in response to rising demand. The expansion, driven by Abby, will see Cheeky Little partner with networks, production companies, and brands worldwide, offering capabilities from concept development, world building, character design, animation through to final render.
