We sat down for a chat with Tania to discuss all things UNIT. Here’s what she had to say…
Tania> Ever since I started in the industry, I have always felt the head of production is such a key role within a Post house. I looked up to it and always felt I would love to do the role one day. It's something I take super seriously, a manager can affect someone’s day, career and life. So the people, the team drive me. I really want people to enjoy working within my team.
Tania> We are not short on characters, every day is different. We have such a mixture of people. From Soho Royalty Daz, Phil M needs no introduction and then lovely Jenny, Phil D and Danny. We also have bright young talents in Wil and Nell. They keep me in the know. Plus I get to work with one of my best friends, Isabella every day. We are a close-knit family ‘unit’ where everyone brings something different to the table.
Tania> I would love to give you a cool answer but the truth is that I knew little to nothing about the industry. I studied journalism at University and believed I was going to change the world for the better. I happened to see a runner position come up, I applied and got the job. Eventually I got promoted to receptionist and one day I put my hand up to help the busy producers (or bookings back then) and slowly I built the trust of the EP Kabir. As I slowly understood the dynamics, I found my strengths and decided producing was for me.
Tania> It's a really tough time for advertising at the moment. Budgets have been slashed but expectations are still high. I could shout about something creative but there are also other jobs to look at and people have no idea of the blood, sweat and late nights it takes to deliver each and every one. So I have many highlights over the last year, being able to still please the client and being super proud of the team getting the jobs done. Are definitely two of the them.
Tania> It was super exciting launching UNIT in Fitzrovia! I love the area, it's vibrant and our new building has a different feel, there is so much light. Making it fresh and inspiring environment to thrive in. I’m excited for our next chapter.
Tania> It is a leadership role that involves overseeing and managing the entire production department. I love a challenge and try to keep everything running smoothly whilst at the same time pushing to deliver everything to our high creative standards. It’s exciting to be at the heart of production, I try to drive the team forward and find ways to overcome challenges. I’m passionate about what I do and genuinely enjoy seeing the impact of our collective efforts.
Tania> I just watched ‘Missing You’ on Netflix, loved the full UK cast and I really like a thriller. Sometimes you just need something to take your brain away from the stressful day. I am also a big fan of Traitors on BBC - it's quite interesting to see how people will pick up on the tiniest thing and blow it out of all proportion. It can be super intense but I enjoy the drama of it all.
