DDB Group Hong Kong was the big winner at last night’s Hong Kong Effie Awards, taking home six Effie awards for its most successful McDonald’s campaigns of the past year, as well as the coveted Grand Effie, winning this award for the second consecutive year. The prestigious “Most Effective Agency of the Year” prize, introduced for the first time at this year’s awards and recognising the most successful agency in terms of effectiveness, was also presented to DDB Group Hong Kong.
These wins reinforce and enhance what has fast become DDB’s reputation as Hong Kong’s go-to effectiveness agency, adding not only to their 2023 Effie wins but also recent APAC Effie success where DDB was the only Hong Kong agency awarded, and WARC placing DDB as its highest ranked Hong Kong agency in its 2024 rankings. The awarded campaigns, “McDiploma”, “Coffee Retirement” and “McNuggets Art World”, were acknowledged for their significant impact on McDonald’s business, as well as shaping perceptions and creating valuable experiences for customers, and in the case of “McDiploma”, its own people.
Andreas Krasser, CEO at DDB Group Hong Kong, is thrilled with the award wins, commenting, “Our agency’s mantra is built on the notion of moving people to move businesses, so being crowned Hong Kong’s most effective agency is not only an honour but also the culmination of a year of hard work and focus. In economically challenging times, it’s more important than ever to create campaigns that deliver substantive outcomes. I also want to thank our wonderful partners at McDonald’s Hong Kong – not only for their continued trust and partnership, but also for believing in big platform thinking and for pushing bold creative executions at scale. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved together and look forward to continuing this momentum.”
Tina Chao, chief marketing and digital customer experience officer at McDonald’s Hong Kong, added, “It’s always rewarding when our creative campaigns connect with customers but this past year has proven the power of creativity in bigger and more diverse ways than ever before. These awards are a wonderful recognition of our strong partnership with DDB and the work we do together.”
