Dearfriend.tv continues to elevate its roster with the addition of Brandon Kapelow for exclusive Canadian representation. This marks a significant step for the company, further solidifying its presence in Canada following the recent launch of their Toronto office.
Brandon, a director whose work is as emotionally rich as it is visually captivating, makes this partnership a natural fit, and a promise to the market to tell vital stories that need to capture human truth.
Brandon said, “The most important priorities in my career are telling stories I can feel proud of, and doing it with people I care about beyond your working relationships. I feel incredibly lucky to have found a partner in Dear Friend who shares those same values. Ever since our earliest conversations they’ve been incredibly supportive of my ambitions, and their emphasis on building a creative family made it easy to feel at home on their roster.”
In a time when mental health, trauma, and sensitive social issues are at the forefront of public conversation, Brandon Kapelow’s work feels especially urgent. His focus on these topics not only mirror his personal experiences, but also responds to a growing cultural need for honest storytelling. In an industry often dominated by glossy, fast-paced content, Brandons work tells us to slow down, listen, and absorb.
Trevor Lang, Brandon's EP at Dear Friend, was asked what reinforced the decision to bring Brandon on, and he had this to say, “Brandon and I have an organic relationship. We share a lot of the same creative interests, and everytime we work together it feels like natural collaboration, and furthermore.. friendship. It’s important to us at Dear Friend to feel close to the work we do and more importantly to understand how to amplify our director's tone on set. From building treatments, to prep, everything feels very intuitive, and I’m looking forward to what we create together.”
Brandon, who spends his time between LA & Vancouver, brings a fresh perspective in Dear Friend's growing roster and the Canadian market at large, and their first collaboration was recently recognized at the 2024 Berlin Commercial Awards. Brandon’s past work has garnered both domestic and international acclaim, screening at Academy Award and BAFTA-qualifying festivals. His work has been featured in top publications such as Billboard, NPR, TIME, Adweek, Pitchfork, and The New York Times, solidifying his place as a versatile and impactful director.
