On Monday the 27th of April, people all over the world will be easing into the start of a new week. Drinking a coffee, trying to stay awake, trying to wrench some inspiration from somewhere…. But guess what? In Amsterdam things will be a little different.
Because on Monday the 27th of April, the Netherlands will celebrate Kingsday, Holland’s official national day – when Holland turns into one big party. Especially in Amsterdam…
It’s the day when all Dutchmen and women wear something orange. Preferable a T-shirt.
And suddenly all Dutchmen and women turn into merchants – as by law everybody has the right to sell their goods on the street without a permit.
Well, there is also an advertising agency called Kingsday. They traditionally give a killer party on Kingsday. This year, to celebrate the true Dutch entrepreneurship of Kingsday, they decided to turn the whole agency into a merchant. On- and offline.
They have made the ‘official’ Kingsday T-shirt, which will be hawked on the street during their annual party, where Kingsday staff and founders will be testing out their entrepreneurial skills by selling the T-shirts on the street.
Tourists and passers by who decide to buy an orange T-shirt will inadvertently walk around for the rest of the day – and beyond - merchandising the agency through Kingsday’s logo.
