Chief client and chief growth officer is set to succeed agency co-founder and president Allen Bosworth in September

EP+Co, an Interpublic Group full-service creative agency based in South Carolina and New York announced today that Kat Shafer has been named president of the agency, assuming the role on September 1st, 2024. She’ll be taking over the leadership responsibilities from Allen Bosworth, who has been with the agency since he helped found it 36 years ago. After serving for the last eight years as EP+Co’s president, Allen is set to retire at the end of 2024. After the transition, Kat will report directly to Alex Leikikh, IPG executive vice president, Interpublic Group.

“I’m so proud of Kat stepping into this role,” said Allen. “I’ve seen her grow through her career and she has been a part of our most important decisions and successes. It’s rare these days in our industry to have close-knit, consistent leadership working side-by-side for years to build an agency. Kat will work with our team to continue that tradition. We believe that you build brands people believe in and trust by demonstrating your brand’s ethos through action and consistency. This appointment indicates that we not only believe this for our clients but also for our own company.”

Kat has been with the agency for nearly 20 years, serving most recently as chief client officer and chief growth officer. During her time at EP+Co, she has helped shepherd the acquisition, growth and retention of countless clients, including the Verizon account, which she led for nine years. Over the past two years, Kat has helped EP+Co achieve 100% client retention and extraordinary organic growth by demonstrating the agency’s effectiveness and impact on clients such as John Deere, Michelin, Verizon, General Mills brands, Planet Oat, The UPS Store and many more.

“At EP+Co, we are deeply committed to building belief in brands we love. Over the past several years, our leadership team has worked to create a company that consistently serves our clients, our people, and the industry with excellence,” said Kat. “That consistency creates a chemistry that is unmatched in the agency world. But consistency doesn’t mean stagnation. Our identity is as an action-oriented agency for our clients and for our people. We plan to shake things up and swing big, without fear of striking out. A huge thank you to Allen for being an incredible mentor and cheerleader throughout my career at EP+Co. The fingerprints he leaves on our people, culture, and work are a testament to his character and leadership.”

“EP+Co’s mission is to Build Belief with brands through action and consistency. Kat’s transition to her new role exemplifies the agency’s firm foundation to growing talent in-house and commitment to continuity in an industry full of change, as well as EP+Co’s ability to take meaningful, strategic actions,” added Alex.

After his 40-year career in the industry, Allen looks forward to living his passion for teaching young people. He has served as the president of the board of advisers for the University of North Carolina’s Hussman School of Journalism and Media for the past several years and has enjoyed teaching many of the school’s advertising and marketing classes.
