Factory Studios Celebrates Two Webby Award Wins

Factory Studios were thrilled to see their work getting honoured at the 2023 Webby Awards for their recent collaboration with The Mill and HBO on the augmented reality mobile app ‘DracARys’. The app, powered by Niantic Lightship, coincided with the release of the first season of HBO’s ‘House of the Dragon’ and allowed users to step through a portal in Westeros to steal a dragon egg and raise their very own, unique dragon. The project was not only awarded Honouree for ‘Augmented Reality in Advertising, Media & PR’, but also received the People’s Voice Award for ‘Technical Achievement in the Metaverse, Immersive and Virtual’ category.

Real-time sound design and integration were provided from Factory’s Immersive team, led by Mike Hill, to really help bring the dragons to life in all their guttural glory; “Having Audio Developers as part of the team here at Factory means we can create highly immersive sound design and integrate it into real-time audio environments to ensure true authenticity in the final mix. DracARys allowed us to showcase this skillset and help The Mill create that cinematic sound that fans of the franchise have come to expect”.
