Last November, GE released The Message, its first original sci-fi podcast that hit No.1 on the iTunes charts, surpassed 5 million global downloads and won multiple Cannes Lions awards at the International Festival of Creativity. The tens of thousands of fans who have subscribed to The Message have been anxiously awaiting the release of this next chapter of original sci-fi audio storytelling from GE Podcast Theater.
This past Sunday, November 13th, GE premiered a brand new sci-fi thri ller series, LifeAfter. The 10 episode series follows Ross, a low level employee at the FBI, who spends his days conversing online with his wife Charlie – who died eight months ago. But the technology behind this digital resurrection leads Ross down a dangerous path that threatens his job, his own life, and maybe even the world. New episodes every Sunday.
Imagining the possibilities of frontier technologies as a point of fictional entertainment, LifeAfter will explore the idea of what happens to our digital identities after we pass, while also entertaining listeners with real-world technologies that GE studies at its Global Research Centers.
With a commitment to innovation in every aspect of its business, GE challenges itself to tell original stories on emerging platforms and connect with audiences in unexpected ways. Using real-life technology as inspiration for fictional entertainment, LifeAfter sets a bar for what GE’s Digital Twin technology can one day hope to reach, which is to mimic a physical asset so well that if you were interacting with a device or object and its digital copy, it would be difficult to decipher which is which. While this is something GE scientists are working toward, it will be many years before this technology will be feasible. For now, we tune in to LifeAfter and imagine.
Tune in! LifeAfter will be available on all major podcast platforms including iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher, Soundcloud, Overcast, and TuneIn.
