Three UK & Gravity Road launch short parody film encouraging people to infinitely binge

Three UK and Gravity Road have teamed up to launch a new social film as part of the mobile network’s launch of the new ‘Go Binge’ campaign. Three’s pioneering ‘Go Binge’ offering* allows binge-obsessed customers to devour films, TV shows and music on popular streaming services – including Netflix, TV Player, Deezer and SoundCloud – without the fear of exceeding their data limit.

Go Binge is in response to the findings from Three’s extensive consumer research and insight into the bingeing behaviours of the UK and its obsession with keeping up with the latest and most fashionable series – no matter what the consequences. Named The Binge Files, the research has unearthed an explosion in binge watching and content streaming, proving beyond all doubt that bingeing is the new normal when it comes to the nation’s viewing and listening habits.

Amongst other statistics, The Binge Files reveals that 44% of people aged 16-24 years old watch more than an hour of streamed content on their phones daily and 46% binge because they just can’t wait for the next episode. Based on the user insight, Gravity Road has created a short film parodying people’s newfound streaming addictions. Set in an eccentric electronics store, the film sees a store owner host secret, unconventional ‘Binge classes’ after hours, encouraging people to become more in-tune with streaming and love their devices – to help them achieve a higher stream of consciousness.

The film is directed by the multi-award winning Tom Geens, whose previous credits include feature films Menteur/Liar and Couple in a Hole. It is created by Gravity Road, Three UK’s retained social, search and content agency and has been distributed across Three UK’s Facebook, Twitter and YouTube channel.

Shruti Veeramachineni, creative director at Gravity Road, said: “Three has gone to great lengths to understand this new tribe of social bingers who want the freedom to binge on the go, on their own terms. So, tapping into the tribe and the associated cult behaviour, we’ve created a quirky, unconventional film that encourages people to ‘Go Binge’ and feel liberated.”
