Produced by Czar Amsterdam, and in partnership with creative agencies LePub and Boomerang, the humorous advertisement celebrates Heineken's 150th anniversary by showcasing the myriad of amusing nicknames associated with their iconic beer across different regions of the Netherlands.
Directed by Bart Timmer, known for his unique comedic style, the commercial captures the essence of Heineken's rich heritage and its ability to unite people in joyous moments. Inventive as it is hilarious, the film follows a small group of friends on their travels around the Netherlands and the comic cultural shock that ensues when they realise every new place has a different name for Heineken.
The goal behind this campaign was to give the spotlight to the many nicknames associated with the brand while emphasising the universal enjoyment that Heineken brings to every occasion. Although 150 years is certainly something to celebrate, Heineken decided to focus on consumers' perceptions and experiences of the brand rather than the history of the company. The message is simple: Heineken does not care what name people call them so long as they have a good time.
The commercial is online and on Dutch television.
