Tapping into nostalgia, iconic '90s hip hop group, Kid ‘n Play, star in Progressive Insurance’s Replay campaign.
Watch Party features Christopher Reid and Christopher Martin, also known as Kid 'n Play, a Black American hip-hop duo from New York City. Based on the iconic film, the spot brings to life a football watch party with the notable duo where the two besties misunderstand what the other said and things get out of hand – that’s when a Replay challenge flag is needed.
Within the commercial, you’ll find iconic nods to hip hop including the revival of the Kick Step with Black American actress, Ashley Everett, and an exclusive track from trending hip hop duo Flyana Boss. Viewers will also spot a familiar face in the Buffalo Bills’ Von Miller, providing a connection to Progressive’s recent Suits spot, also part of the Replay campaign.
Progressive Insurance's Replay campaign dives into the vibrant world of '90s nostalgia in this latest commercial, with elements that resonate with audiences across generations. Additional commercials in the campaign include Suits, Game Plans and Sunroof.
"The spot weaves Progressive’s conversation-driving Replay campaign together with the vibrancy of hip-hop culture,” said Walter Geer, chief experience design officer at VMLY&R. “Kid N' Play and their iconic movie capture a moment in Black culture that encapsulates the duo's role in hip-hop history. And though they still know how to turn up a celebration, they are now the MCs of the Progressive’s Replay, and Kid throws the flag on Play to uncover what went wrong this time. From the kick step to the flattop fade, we hope we did justice in paying homage to Kid N’ Play’s legacy and role in this Replay and are honoured to have been a part of this dream project.”
