Following on from the success of Prada Beauty’s Luna Rossa Ocean Eau de Toilette and Eau de Parfum campaigns, McCann Paris reconnects Jake Gyllenhaal with the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli sailing team for a Luna Rossa Ocean Le Parfum documentary 'Beyond the Line.'
McCann Paris launches Prada Beauty’s latest Luna Rossa 'Beyond the Line' documentary, starring Jake Gyllenhaal as a modern adventurer who attempts sailing the world’s fastest boat with the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team. The campaign marks an evolution of Prada Beauty’s Luna Rossa line, following on from the success of Luna Rossa Ocean Eau de Toilette and Eau de Parfum ranges.
As part of the documentary, actor Jake Gyllenhaal travels to Sardinia to dive back into the world of Luna Rossa. The documentary sees Gyllenhaal take up the challenge of navigating the technological jewel: The Luna Rossa, fastest boat in the world, and he is pushed to the limits with the support of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli sailing team.
For the campaign, McCann Paris took inspiration from Luna Rossa's Ocean Parfum, wanting to match the parfum’s powerful intense and aromatic qualities, with those required of Gyllenhaal as he sailed the fastest boat in the world.
The McCann Paris team viewed the campaign as a sensory way of opening horizons and plunging into the heart of this new voyage. Throughout the documentary, Gyllenhaal reflects the qualities of Luna Rossa’s Ocean Parfum and the team captured this through raw camera shots, powerful interactions, and moments of advanced technical exchange. The campaign has a long format of 10min, sequenced in three episodes of 1min30s and social capsules of around ten seconds.
Julian Calot, chief creative officer at McCann Paris, said, “We are moving beyond traditional advertising to embrace entertainment. This marks a shift towards a new type of content that we value highly. While bite-sized content thrives on platforms like TikTok, there is also room for longer, truly engaging and more immersive formats. The experience aboard the Luna Rossa is simply astounding - in performance, speed, and technology - and it deserved the time to convey this feat to the general public.”
