Mad Ruffian unveils their new music video for ‘Wonderful’, a love song by Swedish Indie band, Francobollo.
In a space that is mostly filled with super cool, super serious music videos, the slightly surreal, but hilarious promo sees a young woman preparing for a hot date, and leaving behind a heartbroken ball of pubic hair, whose jealousy leads him to exact revenge on the girl who created him and subsequently left him behind - as well as the girl's new long-haired lover.
Mad Ruffian Director, Christopher Watson-Wood said: “We really wanted to do something silly and adolescent that didn’t take itself too seriously - as if plucked from the ripe brain of a thirteen year old boy. We also really liked the idea of trying to make something usually considered pretty gross - like pubic hair - into a cute and lovable character. With that in mind we set out creating our film…it’s almost like ‘Pixar hits puberty’. The character design was crucial, and it quickly became clear that the lovable hairball needed the personality of an emotive cartoon-like character, but rendered in a (very complicated) photorealistic way, in order to fit into the live action environment.”
The video launches just in time for Halloween, with its sarcastically horror-tinged ending matching up perfectly with Francobollo's band personality.
Produced by Brit Award winner, Charlie Andrew, (Alt-J, Marika Hackman, Benjamin Francis Leftwich.) the new EP ‘Wonderful’ will be the first full release on Charlie's new label Square Leg Records launching on November 18th, with an album due for release in 2017
