ARAG mounts another hilarious commercial campaign starring celebrity spokesperson Kathy Najimy. Partnering with BarkleyOKRP, Gravy Films, and director Laura Murphy to bring “Legal Happens” to life, ARAG depicts legal situations that have gone wrong featuring the legendary comedic actress letting people know that they need legal insurance to help tend to their problems.
In “Cozy Contractors,” a man wakes up nestled in a bed filled with burly contractors who have moved in after missing all their construction deadlines. With “Scoots,” a man in a business commuter is forced to use a scooter to get to work because he didn’t pay for his speeding tickets. Throughout the films, Kathy Najimy shows up to playfully make light of these circumstances, suggesting that the solution may be ARAG legal insurance. These films' funny and clever tones are amplified by Kathy Najimy’s quick cuts to the camera to break the fourth wall and clue the audience into her internal commentary.
Reprising her role as spokesperson for ARAG, Kathy Najimy gives a lovingly no-nonsense performance, making light jabs at the central characters of the commercial. Gathering the award-winning team together again, agency BarkleyOKRP, Gravy Films, and director Laura Murphy delivered two online commercials as well as social extensions to bring the campaign to life. This creative continues the push to show the need for legal insurance in ARAG’s well-established brand voice.
“I could not have been more excited to work with the genius and hilarious creative team and comedy powerhouse that is Kathy [Najimy] again,” said director Laura Murphy. “We all have a working shorthand as a team and share a similar taste in comedy, which came in handy; everyone was naturally aligned on where and how far to push things. We also laughed a lot on set, which is always a great sign that we are creating something we will all be really proud of.”
Katy Hornaday, BarkleyOKRP CCO added, “We are really thrilled to get the band back together for another round of this campaign. The combination of Kathy’s talent and Laura’s directing, has once again, helped us create work that’s unlike anything this category has seen. It’ll make you laugh. It’ll make you smile. And then it’ll make you think: shoot, do I need legal insurance too?”
