Athletes Andre De Grasse, Penny Oleksiak and Kelly Olynyk remind Canadian children they have a safe place in spot from McCann Canada

For 35 years, the number 686868 has helped connect millions of youth to Kids Help Phone as their text line. Now, the 686868 Circuit is bringing these numbers to the world of sport by transforming them into a modular exercise circuit. But it’s more than just a workout. We’re turning the everyday practice of counting reps into a reminder for young athletes to let their feelings out.

Launching the campaign is a hero film directed by Mark Zibert featuring Kids Help Phone’s athlete ambassadors, Andre De Grasse, William Nylander, Marissa Papaconstantinou, Kelly Olynyk, Penny Oleksiak and Kia Nurse, alongside real youth to show the less glorious side of sport: the side filled with doubt, comparisons and criticism. The film features the original Queen track and sporting anthem, ‘We Are the Champions’ to underscore our message that “Even champions need champions.”

The campaign includes downloadable 686868 Circuits created in partnership with athletes, social videos of them discussing their own mental health and completing their unique 686868 circuits to inspire more people to join the movement.

“We are so grateful that athletes across Canada have rallied together to share their stories and champion Kids Help Phone’s historic movement. By building the KHP service numbers six and eight into their workout circuits, athletes are reminding youth their feelings always have a place to go. Young people are counting on us and we can all be their champions.” said Katherine Hay, president and CEO, Kids Help Phone.

“Young athletes can face tremendous amounts of pressure, so being able to embed KidsHelp Phone’s text line into their routine, through the everyday act of counting reps, is a simple way to remind them they’re not alone.” sad Athina Lalljee, creative director, McCann Canada.
