Angela McKay’s pictorial artwork defines the visual style of the entire campaign, spanning from the special edition packaging to the animation style frames. Under Device’s direction, watercolour strokes seamlessly merge into fluid motion, capturing the essence of a timeless love story.
Style-wise, BOL went for a realistic approach with the characters, birds, and environment, while keeping things flexible for smooth transitions between actions and scenes. And to deliver that exotic vibe, BOL played with a vibrant colour palette that really grabs your attention.
Bringing Angela’s watercolour artwork to life through animation was no small feat. Challenging both technically, in terms of our tight production schedule, and in facing a difficult clean-up phase. Plus, they had a seasoned team skilled not just in animation, but also in illustration, bringing extra sensitivity to both the art and its textures, as well as the movements of every element.
For the musical part, the client had a clear vision for the direction of the sound. BOL combined a meditative, relaxed tone with occasional changes in speed and volume. A mix of strings, keys, and other acoustic instruments was used to evoke feelings of adventure and love.
