Lord Danger director Parker Seaman put his signature comedic style and virtual production know-how into full effect for the new Kraft Mac and Cheese ad, created by the brand’s in-house agency, The Kitchen. The spot, entitled 'The Good, The Bad, and the Delicious' (:30), was shot virtually at one of Toronto’s virtual production stages with Impossible Studios, Seaman’s production home in Canada, using video wall technology. The new ad, which broke last month, can be seen online and on social media (Instagram and TikTok).
“Before I even read the scripts, I was excited to even be considered for such an iconic brand. Then once we got into it, the agency really let me run wild with all the little details. I loved the idea that we were allowed to lean into the Western tropes as much as possible, not hold back on big performances… and ranch-flavoured Mac and Cheese. Let’s be honest, I wanted a free box of ranch-flavoured Mac and cheese.”
Anthony Ficalora, Lord Danger executive producer, explained Parker’s strong understanding of virtual video wall technology, which created the entire location digitally, except for practical elements the actors physically touch, is a huge benefit to clients like Kraft.
“Parker is a master at creating visually engaging looks and on a tight timeline,” says Anthony Ficalora, Lord Danger executive producer. “Those skills served him well on this project as they enabled him to focus on performance and finding the right tone for the spots.”
