Glassface, the renowned multimedia artist, director, and composer, known for his trailblazing approach to visual arts, has once again showcased his creative genius by crafting one of four album covers and animated character alongside designer KAWS for the highly anticipated music album release, Insano, by rapper and singer-songwriter Kid Cudi. In an unprecedented partnership, Glassface seamlessly merges his artistic vision with cutting-edge technology including 3D modelling and AI to produce one album cover that transcends traditional boundaries.
Pioneering a new era in music and visual art, Glassface and Kid Cudi's visionary collaboration synthesises creative forces to boost conventional design. This dynamic partnership produces a psychedelic visual masterpiece perfectly complementing the music. Insano, the upcoming ninth studio album by Cudi, is set to release on January 12th, 2024, via Wicked Awesome Records and Republic Records. Insano will be available on all major music streaming platforms, as well as purchase through merchandise, vinyl, as well as CD.
This collaboration isn't Glassface's first venture with Kid Cudi. In addition to designing Kid Cudi's album cover and animated character for Insano, Glassface previously designed two single covers for 'Porsche Topless' produced by BNYX, and 'At The Party' featuring Pharrell and Travis Scott. Not to mention, Glassface had a creative partnership extending into Kid Cudi's clothing line, Members of the Rage collection. From Vogue June 2023, Cudi on working together with artist Glassface and his approach to incorporating AI into his clothing designs, “The AI art is always inspired by whatever we’re telling in the collection. We sit there for hours. It’s not like what you see where they put something into an app and get it right away. We’re really there working at it trying to find the right thing, something that takes you to another world.”
In another quote, Kid Cudi himself expressed on Twitter, "Glassface is a problem, don't sleep @glassface_," highlighting the significant impact the artist has on the creative landscape and the unique flair he brings to collaborations. Glassface has consistently demonstrated the ability to capture the core of Kid Cudi's artistic vision. Their partnership is a testament to their shared creative synergy.
Reflecting on his innovative approach, Glassface elaborates, "I'm a multimedia artist who embraces emerging and experimental technologies in my creative process. For the cover, Cudi and I aimed to create something psychedelic, visually arresting, and that matches how the music feels. After we developed the final cover, we wanted to visualise a full-body version of the character. I’ve incorporated AI as an element in my creative process over the past couple of years and ended up using it to help imagine different versions and ideas for the full-body character. I refined the best version and we modelled a 3D character from those sketches that can now exist in the world of Insano."
