OkayStudio has announced the promotion of David Thomas to managing director, marking a significant step in the studio's continued growth and commitment to creative excellence. David assumes the day-to-day duties of the company’s founder, Nikolaj Belzer, who transitions to the strategic oversight role of CEO.
Since joining OkayStudio as head of production, David has played a pivotal role in enhancing the production department, leveraging his extensive experience from The&Partnership and The Mill. Under his leadership, the production team has flourished, amplifying OkayStudio’s signature strength in delivering exceptional projects - whether in its core creative disciplines of offline editing, colour grading, and VFX, or through end-to-end experiences that unite all its creative talents in one seamless workflow. Today, this growth has not only fast-tracked the creative development of the company’s artists but also nurtured emerging talent. This way, the company is setting new standards for post-production excellence, solidifying OkayStudio's place as one of the most dynamic teams in the market.
David will lead OkayStudio’s two branches in London and Berlin, ensuring consistent growth while maintaining the agility that sets the company apart amongst its peers. His promotion also allows OkayStudio to expand into new territories and discover emerging talent, with CEO Nikolaj Belzer focusing on long-term strategy and further expansion opportunities.
David commented, “I am honoured to take on the role of Managing Director at such an exciting time. Our team’s creativity and dedication continue to push the boundaries of what we can achieve, and I’m committed to maintaining our focus on delivering exceptional work to our clients.”
Founder and CEO Nikolaj Belzer added, “David’s promotion reflects his vision and leadership, especially in VFX, where his experience and connections have already made a huge impact. Our strength lies in staying agile, creative, and talent-driven in an industry that can often feel crowded. As we continue to grow, I’m confident that David will lead our brilliant team to new heights.”
This transition marks an exciting chapter in OkayStudio’s journey, reinforcing its commitment to outstanding creative, emerging talent and innovative production. With David as managing director, the company is set to navigate new opportunities while maintaining its dynamic and agile approach.
