Walmart is marking 2020 with its first ever foray into Super Bowl advertising. 'Famous Visitors', which will air in the first quarter of Sunday's game, takes inspiration from a spot it launched last year for the Golden Globes.
Created by Publicis Groupe's dedicated Walmart agency Dept W, 'Famous Visitors' is the sequel to 'Famous Cars'. Whereas Famous Cars featured the likes of Scooby Doo's Mystery Machine, the Batmobile and Lightning McQueen from Cars, this year's effort highlights the 'out-of-this-world' convenience of the US supermarket's pick up service with a series of shopping themed cameos from famous extraterrestrials.
It turns out that Buzz Lightyear, Flash Gordon, the crew from Mars Attacks, Bill S. Preston Esq. and those coffee-obsessed aliens from Men In Black are equally keen for the utmost in convenience when it comes to their groceries.
The spot was directed by Hungry Man's Wayne McClammy.
