Multibank, a charity founded by former Prime Minister Gordon Brown to alleviate hardship, has announced the launch of a new campaign aimed at raising funds to expand its support for struggling families across the UK.
Produced by Sky Creative and starring the renowned Doctor Who actor Peter Capaldi, this two-part campaign highlights Multibank's vital work, accompanied by original music from Emmy Award-winning composer Daniel Pemberton.
The first segment showcases the Felix’s Multibank team alongside Peter, both delivering a powerful and engaging introduction to Multibank’s mission. The second part, titled Christmas Wishes unveils some startling realities of poverty. Through this segment, two sets of children are both asked the same question - 'What would you like for Christmas?'. With responses serving as a poignant reminder of how close poverty may be to us all, the campaign hopes to encourage viewers to support struggling families across the UK.
The campaign will debut on Sky’s TV channels, Digital Cinema Media, and in various publications, including the Financial Times, MailOnline and The Sun. It will run from 10th November and during the run up to Christmas.
Gordon Brown, founder of Multibank, explained, “The poverty epidemic in the UK is causing acute hardship. Multibanks offer vital help. I would like to thank Peter Capaldi and Daniel Pemberton for lending their creativity to this campaign, along with our corporate champions who are working to help Multibank raise awareness and funds to support more families in crisis.”
Multibanks function like food banks but provide essential items beyond just food. With 15 million people living in poverty in the UK as of 2022 - including 4.3 million children - Multibanks are a lifeline, offering free hygiene products, baby supplies, clothing and basic furnishings, all donated by businesses or funded through donations.
The Big House Project is the first Multibank in Fife, with additional locations in Wigan, serving Greater Manchester, Greenford, serving London, and Swansea, serving Wales. The latest Multibank launched in Middlesborough today to support families in the Tees Valley area.
Amazon is a key funder and donor, contributing significantly to the initiative. Multibank is currently supporting 500,000 families, having given out around four million goods. More supplies are urgently needed, to help more people.
The Multibank charity is supported by industry leaders Claire Enders of Enders Analysis, Ajaz Ahmed, founder of AKQA, and Baroness Scotland of the Commonwealth Office.
