Berlin-based REKORDER produced O2's latest campaign, which involved creating a fantasy building that shows the complete cross-section of all living situations of users in Germany. The pizza delivery mission by the Hero-Girl guides the viewer into an incredible adventure into every German household, meeting many different people. Unfortunately for her, the Hero-Girl has to climb up to the very last apartment, which is quite an experience.
To bring this story alive, REKORDER built all the apartments in real life, including eight enormous sets, a giant flying boat, a yoga retreat paradise, a dance floor, a big party location and the gamers' apartment - all within 10 days.
"Because there was only one big studio where we could build our two biggest sets but light only one, we had to build the second set (about 20 x 8 x 6m big and 5 tons heavy) on a rolling platform. So we could film the finished lit giant set, then tear it down right away (sob!) and roll the second one into the light set of the first," REKORDER's EP Dominik Meis explains.
The strong, quirky visual sense of art direction from director Rodrigo Saavedra is again clearly visible in this spot. The campaign perfectly combines storytelling, creative ingenuity, outstanding design and strong imagery with a graphic and imaginative appeal.
The campaign was shot in Kyiv together with production service shelter.films. Thanks to the director's excellent leading skills and the energetic REKORDER and shelter production crews, a unique solution for a very complex idea was successfully delivered.
