As said by Fresh Film’s director Fredgy Noël during the initial call on filming with Planned Parenthood. "I was talking about how important it is that we not focus on figureheads of the movement and instead make the campaign include ordinary Black women. To show that we are all in this together."
Fredgy's important film for Planned Parenthood shows the far reaching damage of the decision to overturn Roe V Wade. Featuring black women leaders in the reproductive justice movement, and highlighting the threats ahead for abortion access and the resultant attack on black female bodies. The call for action expresses unwavering support for policies that protect the right to reproductive freedom and abortion justice, a salient priority this year in the repro movement.
The narration from Monique Moses unites the woven images of filmed and archive footage, as well as a strong visual reminder that the fight for the basic right to exist and control the black female body has been a long one, and asks you, the viewer, to stand with them.
