For Pluto TV's first-ever Super Bowl ad, the streaming service teamed up with creative agency HAYMAKER and Imperial Woodpecker's director Stacy Wall to give an incredibly silly tour of its 'Couch Potato Farm'.
In the film, a huge field is littered with these 'couch potatoes' - actual humans in wacky, oversized potato costumes - who are watching all of the different shows that Paramount's free streaming platform has to offer. Some are crying over Pluto TV's romantic content, others are craving their reality TV hit, or laughing themselves right off of their comfy couch with some comedy.
After giving the tour, which shows a team of farmers planting TVs directly into the tilled earth to 'feed' the couch potatoes, the lead farmer (and narrator of the spot) declares: "Pluto TV. It's TV the way it's supposed to be."
"At some point over the past decade, the world of television became undeniably crowded and complicated, making audiences yearn for simpler days," says Valerie Kaplan, Pluto TV's global SVP and head of consumer marketing. "We're excited to share our brand story with fans nationwide, using our authentic voice, irreverent sense of humour, and an unforgettable crop of couch potatoes who love TV as much as we at Pluto do."
