Berlin-based Rekorder produced another future-oriented and well-crafted film, directed by directors' duo BRTHR, in which gen z enjoys a carefree summer full of joy, freedom and music experiences provided by Electronic Beats.
The strong visuals are inspired by the quote "I am youth, I am joy, I am freedom" from James M Barrie's Peter Pan novels. The work reimagines the classic story of youth for a whole new generation. This narrative fits BRTHR perfectly as they understand their age best and have worked with influential artists such as THE WEEKND, PinkPantheress and CHARLI XCX. The campaign stars GRAMMY-nominated music producer DJ Jayda G and an initiative ambassador.
"You can't grow up if you've never been young."
The 2:58 film came together through the strong collaboration between REKORDER and Saatchi & Saatchi London and Germany. Everything was shot in Greece at four stunning locations, including an IRL rave in the forest. One of the biggest challenges was building the fake metro, which we could only have done with the outstanding art department and service production of Avion Films.
"It is almost incredible how smooth the whole production went," tells EP Konstantin Nerger. "The creatives of S&S UK and client completely trusted BRTHR and the production department at S&S Germany became our true partners in crime. The whole vibe during the production was very FUN and Gen Z-like, which can be seen through and felt in the final film. The directors were really bonding with the cast, and ultimately, they were not acting anymore. Even the forest rave felt real on set. Last but not least, we also want to give an extra shout-out to the styling team for the gorgeous outfits!"
Another remarkable player on the Rekorder production was the duo of DoP's @persona, which not only mastered their game and made possible all of BRTHR's camera move ideas and used innovative approaches such as scouting photos and AI to create the light use of the scenes in pre-production.
