The 2022 Saatchi & Saatchi New Creators’ Showcase will screen in full at this year’s UK Creative Festival in Dreamland, Margate, as part of an ongoing partnership with Channel 4 to champion emerging British talent.
For the past 32 years, the Saatchi & Saatchi New Creators’ Showcase (formerly the New Directors’ Showcase) has provided a platform for up-and-coming creators, growing to be one of the flagship events of Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
2022 marked a renewed commitment from Saatchi & Saatchi to showcasing emerging talent from around the world, starting with a special focus on British creators. Partnering with Channel 4 to champion emerging British creator talent, the showcase shortlist was curated by British writer, director, and Dazed 100 alumni Caleb Femi, Saatchi and Saatchi CCO Franki Goodwin, and Channel 4 Commissioning Editors Vivienne Molokwu and Rita Daniels.
Works featured in the showcase include films from Will Wightman, Grandmas, Ebeneza Blanch, @Permutation.City, Larry Ketang & Liam White, Edie Lawrence, Regina Sepp, Molly Burdett, Toby Auberg, and Chirolles Khalil.
Franki Goodwin, CCO at Saatchi & Saatchi UK says, “Every year the New Creators’ Showcase blows us away with the new and incredible talent it spotlights. This year, alongside our partners at Channel 4, we’ve focused our discoveries on British talent to give them a platform and hopefully a route into the industry. We can’t wait to bring the showcase to Margate – itself a hub of modern British creative energy and inspiration – at the UK Creative Festival.”
“The New Creator Showcase is one of the most successful and storied celebrations of talent in our industry” said Jeremy Green, CEO, UK Creative Festival. “They’ve provided the break for some of the most unique creative and visionary talents we’ve ever seen, setting the standard for innovation in storytelling. We’re delighted that they’re joining us at the UK Creative Festival.”
The UK Creative Festival takes place on the 6-8th September in Margate, bringing together some of the most forward-thinking and ground-breaking minds within the creative community to discuss some of the most pressing issues the creative industries face today. The festival is also host to the UK’s first free-to-access creative careers fair, where young people can meet companies and representatives from a broad spectrum of different creative disciplines.
