Today sees the launch of a new wave of the Small Talk Saves Lives campaign developed by integrated communications consultancy Pegasus, on behalf of Samaritans, British Transport Police, Network Rail and the wider rail industry.
The new campaign film, developed in partnership with and produced by The Progress Film Company, is aimed towards members of the public, highlighting how the every day conversations people have are all the experience required to be able to interrupt someone's suicidal thoughts and encourage them to get help.
The new phase of the campaign coincides with figures released today that show a 20% increase in the number of times the public have acted to prevent suicide in the rail environment since the start of the Small Talk Saves Lives initiative last November.
A range of marketing activity is planned in addition to the new campaign film. Targeted media advertising with the Metro, billboard advertising in suicide-hotspot areas and in-station advertising across high-footfall London stations will help to drive awareness, supported further by media and influencer outreach.
