Unlisted animation directors, Vic and Leyla, in collaboration with The General Store, have created a thoughtful and beautifully-rendered Christmas film for Salvos Stores. The 2020 Salvos Stores Christmas Report revealed an astonishing $669 million in present wastage each year, and that two thirds of Australians are changing their approach to gift-giving due to financial concerns.
The short film creates "a magical world for our audience, young and old, to step into”, said The General Store’s creative director, Chris Scott.
The spot utilises charming, hand-drawn cel animation, and asks the audience to rethink their approach to the festive season, with Santa himself turning to Salvos to buy pre-loved gifts.
“2020 has obviously been an incredibly difficult year for everyone, and we’re so glad to join in sending this positive message, says Graham Pryor, Unlisted Executive Producer. Focusing on reusing rather consuming feels especially pertinent, now more than ever, and I think that Vic and Leyla and the team have done a fantastic job in the visual articulation of that message.”
